The quality management standard ISO 9001 is the most widespread and important national and international standard in quality management (QM). Certification in accordance with ISO 9001 is possible for companies and organisations of all sizes and in all industries and forms the basis for the company's internal quality management system (QMS) continuous improvement process.

SO 9001 defines the minimum requirements for a quality management system to be implemented by companies in order to meet customer requirements and other requirements for product and service quality. The introduction of a QM system can, for example:

  • Increase the transparency of operational processes
  • Achieve a higher level of customer satisfaction
  • Reduce the error rate thus further reducing costs 

An essential principle of ISO 9001 is process orientation. A process-oriented QM system oversees all essential operational processes and puts them to the test. This allows optimisation opportunities to be identified - even in successful organisations.
